DigiMask® Surface Protection Film

Our DigiMask products were over 8 years in development, and designed to save money by protecting your prints and preventing expensive re-work --- no tunneling or edge lifting --- even with unlaminated prints. DigiMask are a series of 4 different products for surface protection of wide format digital prints. Available as DigiMask, DigiMask Plus and DigiMask Premium these papers feature an ultra low-tack solvent-free adhesive system. DigiMask Premium is a heavyweight paper with higher elongation and is formulated with RLA® for use on vinyl films with air egress liners. DigiMask Clear is a blue-tinted, clear polypropylene film with a solvent-free adhesive. This special film stays rigid to prevent stretching which could result in misaligned graphic panels, which makes it an ideal product for vehicle wraps. About DigiMask® Premasks

DigiMask® line of surface protection materials for digital prints. The ultra-low tack series of surface protection products includes DigiMask®, a standard weight paper masking, DigiMask® Plus, a heavyweight premium paper masking, and DigiMask® Clear, a clear surface protection film. DigiMask® and DigiMask® Plus feature R Tape’s unique Conform® Series RLA® release liner adhesion, which improves adhesion to slick silicone release liners. Release liner adhesion helps combat wrinkling, tunneling and edge curling.

Following application, R Tape’s DigiMask® surface protection products can be removed from graphics easily. This easy-removal characteristic reduces the risk of pulling overlaminates away from prints or pulling the installed graphic from the application substrate, even when installing large format graphics with low initial tack or repositionable adhesives.

DigiMask®Plus, the heavy-weight surface protection paper, is 30% thicker than the standard weight DigiMask®. The extra-thickness gives flimsy vinyl films extra body so graphics install easier and with fewer wrinkles and bubbles. During hot weather application, DigiMask® Plus helps stabilize graphics panels, preventing stretching and distortion of the vinyl film during application. The heavier surface protection paper is much less likely to tear during removal, so applications are completed quickly with any annoying, time-consuming delays.

DigiMask® Clear features a rigid polypropylene facestock, which resists stretching during graphics application to prevent misalignment of panels. The clear protective film allows inspection of prints and precise registration of graphic panels during installation. DigiMask® Clear, a unique surface protection film, specially designed to protect digital graphics, when performing a vehicle wrap. In hot weather applications, the specially-formulated polypropylene film stays rigid to prevent stretching, which could result in misaligned graphic panels. Yet, when DigiMask® Clear is forced into indentations and around compound curves, it can stretch to more than 1000% elongation. Other non stretchable premasks must be removed in the installation process. That extra step slows down the vinyl application process and costs money in additional time. It also defeats a primary reason for using a surface protection film—to protect the graphic during application.

DigiMask® Clear also allows inspection of prints and precise registration of graphic panels during installation. Following graphics application, R Tape’s DigiMask® Clear surface protection film can be removed from graphics easily. This easy-removal characteristic reduces the risk of pulling overlaminates away from prints or pulling the installed graphic from the application substrate, even when installing large format graphics with low initial tack or repositionable adhesives. DigiMask® surface protection tapes are available in a variety of factory-cut roll sizes, including 38”, 48”, 51”, 54” and 60”. Cleanly cut edges reduce inopportune snagging or tearing during the lamination at the shop.
